A Sacred Returning to Yourself

Closing of the Hips Experience

Honoring the body, mind, and spirit through intentional touch, tradition, faith, and prayer.

There comes a time in a mother’s journey when she may feel the need to gather herself back in to reconnect with the body that carried life, moved through birth, and continued giving through postpartum and motherhood.

Our bodies carry our experiences.

Pregnancy and birth ask the body to open, expand, soften, and make space for new life. Postpartum is a season of recovery and transition, yet mothers are often expected to move forward without being given the time or care to intentionally honor what their bodies have experienced.

The Closing of the Hips Experience at Lilies Healing Hands was created as a sacred space for that return.

It is a time to be held, cared for, prayed over, and supported as you honor the chapter you have walked through and intentionally move into the next.

Rooted in Postpartum Tradition

Across generations and cultures, women have been cared for after birth through warmth, nourishment, touch, wrapping, rest, prayer, and community.

Throughout Colombia, Mexico, and other parts of Latin America, postpartum traditions have included the use of shawls, cloths, or blankets to gently wrap, support, and care for a mother’s body after birth.

These traditions were not only about the physical body. They also created space for a mother to be cared for emotionally and spiritually during one of the greatest transitions of her life.

At Lilies Healing Hands, we honor the wisdom found within these traditions while bringing together our Colombian heritage, years of experience caring for mothers, professional bodywork, and our Christian faith.

Because your body is sacred.

Because you deserve to be held, seen, and restored.

And because healing reaches beyond the muscles, it touches the heart and soul.

Preparing Your Body for the Closing

The Closing does not begin on the day of the ceremony.

Preparation is an essential part of how we care for each mother before her Closing of the Hips Experience.

Pregnancy, birth, feeding, carrying a baby, lack of rest, and the physical demands of motherhood can leave layers of tension and compensation throughout the hips, pelvis, sacrum, abdomen, lower back, shoulders, and surrounding tissues.

Rather than taking the body directly into the Closing, we first use intentional massage and bodywork to help the body gradually soften, release areas of tension, and prepare for the wrapping and closing process.

Preparation massage sessions are required before receiving the Closing of the Hips Experience.

For Mothers Within the First 9 Months Postpartum

If you have given birth within the past 9 months, your preparation begins with our:

75-Minute Postpartum Massage

$185 per session

A minimum of 5 postpartum massage sessions is required before your Closing of the Hips Experience.

These sessions allow us to support the body gradually throughout early postpartum recovery while working with areas affected by pregnancy, birth, feeding, carrying your baby, sleep changes, and the physical demands of motherhood.

They also give us the opportunity to become familiar with your body and recognize areas that may need additional support before your Closing.

The goal is not to rush the body into closure.

We give the body time to recover, soften, release, and prepare.

For Mothers More Than 9 Months Postpartum

If you are more than 9 months postpartum, whether your child is a toddler, teenager, or already grown, your preparation begins with our:

75-Minute Women’s Wellness Massage for Mommies

$185 per session

A minimum of 3 massage sessions is required before your Closing of the Hips Experience.

These sessions allow us to address areas of long-held tension and compensation while gently preparing the hips, pelvis, sacrum, abdomen, lower back, and surrounding tissues for the Closing.

You do not have to be newly postpartum to honor what your body experienced through pregnancy, birth, and motherhood.

There is no expiration date on your postpartum story.

Every Mother’s Body Is Different

The 3- or 5-session requirement represents the minimum preparation before a Closing.

Every pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, and body is different. Depending on your birth history, previous C-sections or surgeries, mobility, areas of tension, how long it has been since you gave birth, and how your body responds to the preparation sessions, additional massage or bodywork may be recommended before your Closing.

For clients who require additional time, positioning, physical assistance, or accommodations due to body size, including clients over 250 lbs., an additional service fee applies.

Please contact us before booking so we can make the appropriate preparations and ensure your body is comfortably and properly supported throughout your sessions and Closing Experience.

Our intention is never to force or rush the body.

We prepare first. We listen to what the body needs. And when the body is ready, we close.

The Closing of the Hips Experience

The Closing becomes the culmination of this intentional journey.

Facilitated by Lilie & Ana, the experience brings together physical, emotional, spiritual, and ceremonial elements inspired by postpartum traditions, our Colombian heritage, our years of caring for women, and our faith.

Your Closing Experience may incorporate:

  • Traditional wrapping and closing of the body

  • Rebozo and sheet work

  • Gentle bodywork and craniosacral techniques

  • Sound bowls and intentional sound

  • Prayer and spiritual reflection

  • Space for gratitude, reflection, and emotional release

  • Emotional and spiritual support as you honor your transition

This is not simply another postpartum massage.

It is a moment of completion a space to honor the body that carried life, acknowledge the journey of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and motherhood, and intentionally close one chapter as you step into the next.

Is It Too Late?

There is no single timeline for honoring your postpartum journey.

Some mothers feel called to the Closing during the first months after birth. Others come to us years later after realizing they never had the opportunity to pause, be cared for, or intentionally acknowledge everything their body and heart experienced.

Whether you are months or years beyond birth, the Closing can offer a meaningful space to reconnect with your body and honor your journey.

For newly postpartum mothers, we begin with a minimum of 5 Postpartum Massages and allow the Closing to become the culmination of that recovery journey.

For mothers more than 9 months postpartum, we begin with a minimum of 3 Women’s Wellness Massage for Mommies sessions to prepare the body before moving into the Closing.

Motherhood changes us forever. Your postpartum story deserves to be honored.
