Carrying a baby inside you changes your center of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Pregnancy also relaxes your ligaments, so that your pelvic joints are less stable, and changes your posture, pulling your pelvis forward. Add to that the extra weight you're carrying and you may find you've got an aching lower back.

Only a prenatal massage therapist knows where a pregnant woman's sore spots are likely to be and may be able to provide some relief. It's important to communicate with her and tell her where you need attention. Let her know right away if anything during the massage including your positioning is causing you any discomfort.

Massage can help all the mothers to be with many of these, including:

  • Sore back & hips

  • Sciatic nerve pain & leg cramping

  • Pain in muscles and joints

  • Constipation, gas, heartburn & congestion

  • Headaches

  • Stress and anxiety

  • Sleep deprivation and tiredness

Pregnancy Massage is just as important for mother as it is for the child. Studies have shown that, when you receive a relaxing prenatal massage, the body naturally secretes endorphins. These "feel good" hormones traverse the placenta and ultimately soothe and relax your baby.

Prenatal massage does more than benefit the mother. Everything a pregnant woman does from her diet and fitness to her relaxation and relative state of contentment , also directly affects the child she is carrying. Study after study has proven that calmness in the mother leads to healthier in-utero development.

Regular prenatal massage can help prepare you for labor by making the pelvis more supple.

The best time to start is after the first trimester, when the greatest hormonal and physical changes have taken place and morning sickness is abating. The frequency is up to the individual , typically anywhere between once a week and once a month.

NATURAL LABOUR INDUCTION MASSAGE

90 Mins/$160

Certain therapeutic points and moves can be used to ‘tweak’ a natural labour induction within a massage treatment. Not only does that give your body a gentle nudge in hopefully the right direction, it helps your mind to relax so both you and baby will be in excellent condition on the big day. Practitioners will generally utilize the contra-indicated points for pregnancy to naturally induce a labour.

Natural Labour Induction massage was designed for expecting moms that are 39 weeks and beyond, for whom no medical condition exists. The Labour Induction Massage can be given on or after your due date. Our experienced and well trained massage therapists work on acupressure points which are normally avoided during pregnancy, in the hope it can help to trigger labour. As with normal massage, induction massage helps to relax and calm your body, easing tension and helping to create a clear and grounded space. The therapists also may use essential oils which can assist with labour induction. It’s generally a very successful form of labour induction if the mind, body and baby is ready and willing. Perhaps this is because it forces pregnant women to stop, relax and slow down.

The postnatal massage is a full body massage that is given to a mum once a week for 5 weeks after the birth. The postnatal massage is a wonderful traditional practice to help soothe new moms. It can be very relaxing in the midst of the chaos of bringing a newborn home.
But you will need to arrange for some help because taking a whole hour for yourself with a newborn might be difficult. If your baby's grandmother or other trusted care giver can watch your baby while you get a massage, you might find it one of the nicest practices of the postnatal confinement period.
Benefits:
A postnatal massage will help:

  • To ease sore spots and relax muscle tension. The whole process of childbirth has been a strain on your body, particularly your abdomen, lower back and hips. Your upper back might also be sore if you are breastfeeding and not using a suitable position.

  • Increase the flow of blood and oxygen to your muscles, getting rid of the toxins.

  • You feel relaxed. Massage encourages the body to release endorphins - the natural pain killers and feel good hormones secreted by the brain.

  • Also, it will help your body to release Oxytocin. Oxytocin triggers the letdown reflex which releases milk from your breast. This means that you might leak breastmilk during your massage so keep your breastfeeding bra on with some breastpads in.

  •  Speed up recovery from a caesarean section if you've had one. Although you need to stay clear of your wound as long as it hasn't healed, gentle massage to the area thereafter will increase blood supply and help with internal healing.

  • Improve well-being and immunity by stimulating lymph flow.

  •  You cope with the baby blues and postnatal depression. Some experts say that a massage is an excellent stress buster and mood elevator.

If nothing else, a postnatal massage will give you some time alone. The break will give you the strength to meet the many needs of your baby and home. Or it might help you unwind for a nap if your baby is sleeping too.
